The Construction Projects Officer is a desk-based position, based at our Templestowe office. The position is 5 days p.w. (Mon-Fri), 30 hours p.w. Salary negotiable.
The ideal candidate is a qualified carpenter with extensive experience in the residential construction industry looking to cross over into a desk-based role. Having been at the on-site coal face for many years, this role gives you an opportunity to apply your wisdom in costing, project administration and managing processes that deliver quality results.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role is responsible for all estimating functions including tendering, quotations/variations and administrating any change to contracted scope of works to the on site Operations Team. The role also manages the efficiencies of construction projects against budget objectives and continually improves the standards and processes between architect/client, 4Walls and the sub-trades to deliver financial and customer service objectives of the business. The Construction Projects Officer will interface with 4Walls Operations Manager, 4Walls Site Supervisors, 4Walls Business Manager, clients, architects, subcontractors and suppliers.
The successful candidate will:
§ Be computer literate in a range of everyday packages such as word, excel, outlook, (experience with construction estimating software package highly desirable)
§ Be a fully qualified carpenter
§ Have 15-20 years residential construction industry experience, and have an in-depth understanding of the construction process including:
o Architectural projects
o Construction costing/estimating (estimating software skills highly desirable)
o Ability to estimate and administrate architect instructions including variations and other changes to contracted scope of works
o Experience in developing construction schedules for all construction trades.
§ Have a proven ability to undertake negotiations with architects, suppliers and subcontractors to achieve business objectives.
§ Possess excellent written & oral communication skills across a broad range of contact groups including architects, clients, and the trade.
